Who should
attend? Members of management of safety committees in a "lay" or
specialist role, including line managers/safety committee "Chairs", safety
officers/safety co-ordinators, union appointed safety representatives,
occupational health advisers, "lay" members from shop floor or office
backgrounds.
Course Content
- Equip delegates to conduct "in depth" safety audits of their entire
site.
- Enable delegates to plan for health, safety and welfare using a
systematic risk assessment.
- Emphasise to delegates the main causes of accidents at work and
ideas for preventing them.
- Help delegates to understand their legal responsibilities and the
meaning of the legal term "reasonably practicable".
- Help members of management and/or safety committees to improve their
contribution to the continuous improvement of health, safety and welfare
standards.
Learning Outcomes
- Be equipped to conduct an "in-depth" safety audit of their own area
of responsibility.
- Be able to plan an achievable programme for improving safety
standards within their own areas of responsibility, using a formal risk
assessment approach.
- Be aware of the main sources of accidents at work and their chief
causes.
- Understand the duties imposed by the law, regulations and codes of
practice as they translate into practicable measures.
